This painting looks tridimensional and has a lot of heavy textures
CALM PRIVATE depicts a standing stone covered in intricate knotwork beneath a cloudy sky. Thick palette knife strokes give the surface a physical, sculpted presence.
Paint is layered and partially scraped back, allowing underlying tones to emerge and interact with light.
The scene feels intimate and tactile, encouraging slow, reflective viewing.

Against the unsettled breadth of sky, Calm Private presents a solitary stone as a meeting point between endurance and inward thought. Its tapered form rises from the hillside with a gravity that feels older than the passing weather, while pale circular and looping marks invite the eye toward meanings that remain deliberately unresolved. The brightness around it does not dispel its mystery; it gives that mystery a clear, almost ceremonial presence.
The stone’s dark face holds the gaze, not as a fixed emblem but as a place where memory, pattern, and silence seem to gather. Beneath it, the golden slope carries a gentler register, scattered with small rocks that keep the scene grounded in the immediate world. This tension between the intimate and the immense lends the work its contemplative force.
Above, white clouds open against blue while a deeper bank of gray gathers behind them, suggesting weather that is changing without becoming a spectacle. The monolith remains still within that movement, offering a sense of privacy that is not isolation but concentrated attention - a moment in which the landscape seems to hold its breath around an unknowable presence.
