WIDE LOOSE BALANCE - FRAMED

Across its broad field, Wide Loose Balance holds opposing forces in a poised, unsettled conversation. The central lavender and pink passage seems to gather momentum while darker forms press beneath it, creating a sense of movement that never resolves into a single direction. This is abstraction as a negotiation between release and restraint, where equilibrium feels active rather than still.

The composition’s angular divisions suggest fragments of thought meeting before they become a unified statement. A bright yellow vertical accent interrupts the sweeping motion, bringing a brief note of insistence to the surrounding blues, violets, and charcoal. Its presence gives the work a pulse, as though a composed structure were briefly opened from within.

What makes the image compelling is its refusal to settle into either harmony or conflict. The bands seem to advance, overlap, and withdraw, allowing color to carry the emotional pressure usually assigned to a recognizable subject. Beneath the boldness, there is a measured intelligence in the way each force appears to test the limits of the others.

The result is energetic without becoming chaotic. Its wide proportions encourage the eye to follow movement laterally, yet the intersecting forms repeatedly redirect that journey. The work remains open-ended, offering not a fixed symbol but a sustained experience of balance being formed, challenged, and briefly recovered.
