STILL MARK - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Between remembrance and release, Still Mark turns gratitude toward what has passed without settling into mourning. Its abstract energy suggests a feeling that cannot be contained by a single image or narrative: the departed remain present as movement, recurrence, and emotional charge. The work holds joy and loss in the same current, allowing neither to cancel the other.

A broad yellow-orange and cream form sweeps through the center like a thought returning with greater force each time. Around it, brighter passages press against deeper blues and purples, creating a sense of inward motion rather than a fixed point of focus. The composition feels immersed in its own momentum, as though memory were continually reshaping itself.

The repeated spirals bring a more intimate rhythm to the work. They can suggest cycles of recollection, but they also resist a final reading, circling back before any conclusion becomes complete. This tension gives the painting its vitality: gratitude is not presented as calm acceptance, but as something active, vivid, and still unfolding.

What remains most affecting is the absence of a literal scene. Freed from a specific place or event, the work leaves room for private associations while keeping its emotional direction clear. Its dense interlocking forms turn remembrance into a living presence - not an image of the past, but a sustained encounter with what continues to move through it.
