RISING STATE - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

At the heart of a restless ascent, Rising State gathers radiance into a charged movement beyond fixed forms. Its central glow seems less like a destination than a force continually coming into being, drawing warmer arcs and deeper surrounding tones into the same expanding rhythm. The work’s energy feels grateful without becoming serene, as if release and remembrance are held together in a single rising impulse.

The luminous area sits just beyond the center, giving the composition a subtle imbalance that keeps it alive. Around it, orange and red currents press outward while violet and blue deepen the surrounding field. This tension suggests transformation not as a clean passage, but as a state in which intensity, loss, and renewed presence remain inseparable.

The reference to the grateful dead opens a more reflective register within the work’s exuberance. Rather than presenting death as an ending, the surrounding movement allows it to be sensed as part of a larger circulation - something carried forward through color, light, and recurrence. The radiance does not erase the darker passages; it makes their presence necessary.

Toward the lower edge, cooler blues and greens temper the warmth gathering around the center, giving the composition a feeling of widening breath. Nothing settles into a literal scene or fixed symbol. Instead, the painting sustains a vivid threshold between dissolution and emergence, where brightness becomes a form of memory still in motion.
