SILENT CLOCK REVERIE - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

At the edge of measured time, Silent Clock Reverie turns the clock into a presence within the tree, suggesting that memory may grow around what cannot be recovered. Its Roman numerals lend the scene a human order, yet the gnarled branches carry that order into something older and less obedient. The result feels suspended between reckoning and dream, where time is not passing so much as taking root.

The pale face holds the eye with the authority of an instrument, but its setting unsettles any promise of certainty. Beneath it, the water receives the distant moon and returns its light in a broken path, as if reflection could offer another measure of duration. Warm radiance at the horizon meets the cooler expanses around the tree, giving the stillness a latent dramatic force.

The bare branches extend beyond the clock’s immediate meaning, making the image feel less like a symbol with a single answer than a meditation on what remains after motion has ceased. Against the low shoreline and remote mountains, the central form seems both rooted and strangely temporary. Its silence gathers around the possibility that time can be remembered without being understood.
