SACRED SANCTUARY - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

At the heart of this gathering of opposing currents, Sacred Sanctuary opens toward a brightness that feels less like a destination than a moment of inner release. The golden center holds the composition in suspension, while surrounding bands seem to draw movement inward from every direction. It suggests a place of refuge that is not separate from turbulence, but discovered within it.

The work’s energy remains unsettled. Teal and violet passages press upward against the lighter middle, and the broad sweep toward the lower center gives the scene a sense of continuing passage rather than arrival. A small dark curve within the yellow field introduces a note of ambiguity - perhaps a trace of interruption, perhaps a sign that even clarity carries a shadow.

What endures is the tension between immersion and composure. Cream and pale lavender forms gather through the center like openings in a weathered horizon, while deeper tones along the lower edge keep the image grounded in gravity. The painting leaves its sanctuary in motion, offering not an escape from the world’s unrest, but a charged interval in which opposing forces briefly belong together.
