FALLING FOUNTAIN - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Beneath a threshold of shadow, Falling Fountain turns the descent of water into a passage from enclosure toward radiance. The centered fall gathers force as it drops, then breaks into a bright disturbance where it meets the pool, suggesting release rather than simple movement. Its surrounding darkness gives that emergence a sense of consequence.

The arched opening holds the scene between shelter and exposure. Beyond the falling water, a luminous space remains deliberately unreachable, while the saturated orange and violet forms at either side lend the passage an almost ceremonial intensity. They feel less like fixed architecture than pressures shaping the route through it.

At the lower edge, reflections interrupt the downward pull with broad horizontal echoes. Blue, gold, and pale light spread outward from the impact, making the pool seem to remember what has just entered it. The image therefore balances two directions at once: a force descending and an energy dispersing beyond its source.

The waterfall is not presented as a peaceful retreat from the world, but as a charged interval where darkness becomes brightness without disappearing. The white spray at its base marks the instant of change, while the deep arch remains overhead - a reminder that illumination here is framed, temporary, and hard won.
