Between weathered heights and open water, Phantom Coast holds a passage between shelter and exposure. The cliffs gather the eye with their stern, timeworn presence, yet the sea keeps opening beyond them. A small two-sailed boat moves through this tension, suggesting not conquest of the coast but a measured willingness to enter its uncertainty. Light breaking through the cloud gives the distance a guarded promise, as if the horizon has not been revealed so much as briefly permitted.

The work’s drama comes from the difference between the restless foreground and the calmer reach beyond it. Waves rise and break with force, while the farther water loosens into pale distance.
