VERDANT ABYSS - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

At the heart of this submerged world, Verdant Abyss opens onto a passage that feels both inviting and unknowable. Its green radiance does not simply illuminate the surrounding darkness; it seems to draw the eye beyond familiar boundaries, toward a place where depth becomes a state of mind. The enclosing growth gives the scene a sheltered, almost secretive character, while the distant brightness keeps it from settling into complete stillness.

The pale jellyfish drifting along the right side introduce a different measure of time. Their suspended forms seem to move without urgency, as though the water has released them from direction and destination. Against the central glow, they carry a fragile sense of continuance - small lives passing through an immense, silent threshold without needing to explain where they came from.

Below, the rippling bands lead inward rather than offering firm ground, making the entire scene feel poised between reflection and descent. The darkness at the edges remains active rather than empty, holding back what the light cannot reveal. What emerges is not a fixed fantasy landscape but an encounter with mystery that stays calm precisely because it refuses to disclose everything.
