Morning Sky

The dawn over the ancientness

Sunsets and sunrises may be very different. The place in which they occur play very important role - these can be both natural landscapes and human creation –

• houses
• towns
• settlements

and so on. In this painting of Leonid Afremov, we see a combination of the man-made and the natural. This combination makes this picture amazingly beautiful and unlike others.

The golden spires

Let's first focus on that is created by man – on the right and on the left we see the high lonely spires of towers and houses of different sizes. All this resembles some kind in a medieval city or fortress. Apparently all the houses are made of stone and we can even determine the style of the buildings – based on the dark shades in which the houses are depicted this is most likely Gothic. On the highest tower that is depicted on the left we can distinguish a clock.

The sea sky

Let's now take a closer look at the natural part of the painting. And here it is necessary to highlight the three elements:

• sea

It is not for nothing that we isolated the sun into a separate element, because it serves as the main source of light in the painting – it illuminates both the sky and the sea. Both on that and on the other we find amazing shades and colors, although there are much more of them in the sky. From below, where the sun is most bright, we find a lot of orange color, then the sky turns red, and then rising higher we see an alternation of light and dark tones . Of course, in the real sky, we will not find such a large number of shades and colors. As for the sea, a bright white strip dividing the entire surface into two parts, painted in violet colors, runs along its center.

It’s  a very beautiful sight! You can hardly find such a landscape. But if we think of what it reminds us, probably first we will remember Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy.
