MIRROR BACKVIEW - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

MIRROR BACKVIEW — A contemplative back view becomes the focus of a richly saturated abstract scene. Strong contrasts and tactile marks create a dramatic image that invites close looking.

Centered in the composition, a human figure is seen from behind, its shoulders and upper back forming a powerful silhouette. Dark, curly-textured hair creates a dense, expressive shape above a predominantly deep blue garment accented with red-orange areas. Surrounding vertical bands and reflective-looking passages build an interior-like setting from cobalt, coral, yellow, ochre, pale blue, and green-gray. Thick, block-like and directional brushstrokes give the surface an energetic, painterly rhythm. Bright patches gather around the figure, particularly to the left and upper right, while a narrow dark strip along the right edge adds structure. A small light mark near the lower-right edge provides a subtle finishing detail.

The vertical composition suits spaces that benefit from a strong central presence, whether displayed among contemporary works or used as a focal point in a calm, design-led interior. Its back-facing viewpoint encourages reflection without fixing a single expression or narrative, while the saturated blue, red, orange, and warm yellow palette brings depth and visual energy. Ideal for viewers drawn to expressive abstraction, distinctive silhouettes, and paintings that balance human presence with bold color fields.
