LIGHT ON WATER FILM - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Across an unbounded field of shifting reflection, Light on Water Film turns the meeting of brightness and depth into an experience of unstable perception. There is no horizon to settle the eye; instead, movement passes laterally through the image, making the surface feel less like a scene than a continually changing state. The work invites attention to the instant when something familiar becomes elusive.

Its strongest illumination gathers near the center, where broken white and golden passages seem to catch and release one another. Around them, deeper blues and near-black accents create a sense of surrounding depth without establishing a fixed distance. The effect is vivid yet inward, as though light were being discovered within motion rather than cast upon it.

The many currents never resolve into a single direction. Teal, crimson, magenta, and orange enter the field as intervals of warmth and intensity, complicating any simple reading of water as calm or transparent. What remains is a luminous tension between immersion and uncertainty - a place perceived through its reflections, where the eye keeps moving because the image refuses to become still.
