about this painting:

JUMP

Art in art

As a rule, artists like impressing other people with their works. It gives an artist a certain satisfaction when people get thoroughly absorbed in his books or films. However, the greatest satisfaction is given to an artist only when other artists appreciate his works, for a man of art not only can perceive a work of art, but also gives it one more life by creating his own masterpiece where influences of other artists’ paintings, musical compositions or books can be traced. This Leonid Afremov’s modern wall art painting is just that. Impressed bya ballet dancer’s performance, Leonid Afremov shares his feelings with us and performs the ballet dance by means of forms and colours.

Moment of ecstasy

You cannot but feel enthusiastic about this piece of contemporary wall art while looking at this dancer’s jump. For what is a jump when we think of ballet? A high degree of an inspiriting emotion, the moment of becoming a bird-like creature that has overcome terrestrial attraction. Alas, this moment lasts a short while, and a ballet dancer is to become a human again just in a second. But Leonid Afremov makes this moment of overcoming the attraction of the Earth last forever, for painting knows no moments but those that are everlasting. This graceful dancer will eternally be in the air, her head will always be thrown back, her face will unceasingly reflect her magnificent ecstasy, and her whirled up dress willperpetually be scattering the variegated mosaic of colourful splashes around her hovering body.

Take the baton

If you are an artist or a writer, this modern wall art canvas can help you:

  • To write a poem about the painting itself and the dance that remains behind it.
  • To create a sculpture of the ballet dancer as she is depicted on the Leonid Afremov’s painting.
  • To compose music you think she is listening to while dancing.

At any rate, this painting will be an ideal decoration of any room and continually remind you about the most ecstatic moments people can have in their lives.

Testimonials
A few years ago I saw "Misty Park" posted online somewhere, and fell in love. It was the first time in my life I felt emotionally touched by a work of art. I am so glad I was able to buy a reproduction of it, the quality is superb, now I can enjoy it every day. Thank you!

These are some of the most beautiful paintings I have ever seen. I have just purchased my fourth. There are so many that appeal to me it is difficult to make a choice ! I am amazed that Mr. Afremov takes the time to personally recreate his own paintings. I think it is so wonderful to be able to own one of his actual paintings rather than just a print. I appreciate that he thinks art should be affordable for regular people. Thank you for your vision.

I'm a retired jazz trombonist. The essence of jazz is improvisation. Improvisation is the ability to look at a thing from a different perspective each time you look at it. That is what the pallet knife wielding Mr. Leonid Afremov does with his recreations. I have the pleasure of waking each morning and looking up the rain swept street of "The Loneliness of Autumn" and wondering where my road may take each day. I wasn't prepared for the blaze of color or the depth of feeling when I tore the boxing open at delivery even though I had looked at the painting on the internet dozens of times before purchasing. It was like seeing and hearing Louis Armstrong in person for the first time after just listening to him on recordings. Some times it even awakens the urge to pick up my horn and blow a few choruses straight at the painting expecting it to blow a chorus or two back at me. The man is a magician.
