about this painting:

Jaguar

The first tires on a cobblestone road

The famous colorful canvas by Leonid Afremov amazingly accurately conveys the atmosphere of the city of the 19th century – the era when the first cars appeared. In this painting the car is the center of the composition. As the name implies – Jaguar. It is one of the most recognizable classic cars of the time. The picture is complemented by bright colors of autumn and we recognize the artist's signature style – the sky is depicted in multi-colored brush strokes so that it is just incomprehensible how it can produce rain. However, we see that two lonely passers-by on the street are holding umbrellas – an unmistakable sign of autumn weather. In addition, two trees depicted in the canvas are painted in classic autumn colors – red, yellow, orange and green. The houses themselves are illuminated by street lamps and also look quite bright – their brown walls turn yellow in electric light. The bright abat-jour in the foreground looks very harmonious in this range. The car is also depicted in red. Just parked, it is waiting for its driver, who must have entered the house with the red abat-jour. Let's hope that he will return soon and his car won’t get wet! After all, we should not forget that in those days not everyone could afford such a luxury thing and certainly the parked car should excite jealousy among many of the city dwellers.

Not a luxury, but a transport

It is now lovers of retro cars collect them, but at the dawn of the automobile era this considered as something extraordinary. Cars were used exclusively as a means of transportation and by rich people only. We offer you some interesting facts from the cars history:

  1. August 17, 1896 the first car accident was recorded. This happened for the simple reason – the driver who received the license just 3 weeks before talked to somebody at the wheel.
  2. Luxembourg is the most populated kingdom, and there are about 600 cars for every thousand inhabitants.
  3. The longest traffic jam was recorded on a French highway in 1960. It was 200 km long.

We hope that this painting will appeal not only to car lovers but also to the ordinary spectator who is interested in painting.

Testimonials
This was a wonderful experience for me and I am definitely planning to purchase more in the future. I purchased a Misty Mood painting, which was wonderful except an incredibly small flaw. I emailed them, and within a couple hours they offered to send me a replacement or a completely new painting at no cost. I chose to have a new one sent to me and within a week it arrived at my apt. Truly great service to accompany such wonderful paintings.

I just received my paintings, they're awesome. They are not "exact" copies but the are just as beautiful. Not being an exact copy gives them their own uniqueness. Thank you for making it affordable enough to own these beautiful works of art. Rob Andrews
