And how unwilling we are to wake up when we find ourselves in a fantasy land! In one of his dreams, Leonid Afremov saw a marvelous city he decided to depict in this painting. Vision in the twilight

Just imagine: it’s sunset; the sky is painted red, crimson and violet casting glaring reflections onto the sea surface. You are sailing in a small shaky boat, all alone amidst this burning expanse of water. You’ve been traveling for a long time without seeing even a bit of earth, but now there is something looming on the horizon. As the boat gets closer, you can discern the outlines of a mysterious city. Ghostly buildings, large domes and tall spires become more distinct each minute.
