HOLLOW MAZE - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Between ordered passage and open sky, Hollow Maze proposes a vision of thought caught between structure and release. Its architecture does not simply obstruct movement; it gives uncertainty a shape, repeating corridors until direction becomes a matter of attention rather than certainty. The immense cloud rising beyond it lends the scene a scale that makes the maze feel both deliberate and strangely fragile.

The recessed pathways draw the eye inward, where each turn seems to offer progress while withholding a final arrival. This tension gives the work its contemplative charge: the boundaries are exact, yet the experience of them remains unstable. A subdued meeting of ochre, blue, and shadow keeps the imagined journey grounded in something tangible, even as the landscape slips toward the surreal.

Above the measured geometry, the broad cloud mass opens into a different kind of time - slower, less governed, and impossible to map. The horizon holds a narrow band of green, suggesting a world continuing beyond the constructed passage. Together, these elements allow the maze to read as an inward landscape, where confinement and possibility remain intimately connected.
