Christmas is one of the most important holidays of Christians. But not only Christians – people around the world celebrate the birth of Christ. Scientists argue among themselves whether this person really existed or not, but in fact it doesn’t matter, but it is important that this holiday warm our hearts and fill our souls with pleasant emotions. 2. The tradition of giving postcards arose only at the end of 19^th century when in 1843 an Englishman Horsley painted the first Christmas card, a thousand of its copies were sold in London. However, after only a couple of years, postcards gained such popularity that the market was overfilled with hundreds of various Christmas and Easter cards.
3. What country do you think was the first to choose a fur tree as a Christmas tree? It’s hard to guess, but for the first time this tree was decorated in Latvia and Estonia. At first, the fur tree was decorated as a symbol of the tree of paradise. At the very beginning of the tradition, the tree was decorated with fruits, fresh flowers, and other decorations. Then we began to use sweets, nuts, and cones as decorations just clinging them to the tree. Later, this set was expanded by candles, garlands, and then glass toys. The authors of these toys were initially German glassblowers, and then masters from other countries took over their experience.
