DRAGONFIREFLY SKY - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Between the last warmth of day and the deepening blue, Dragonfirefly Sky turns a fleeting passage into its central subject: movement suspended between departure and arrival. The low horizon holds a concentrated glow, while the open sky gives the airborne forms an unusual sense of freedom. Their flight feels less like a scene to enter than a moment of release, charged with the possibility of changing direction.

The dragonflies carry this tension through their bright, translucent-looking wings, which catch the evening’s orange and gold as if responding to a distant, unseen signal. They seem both delicate and purposeful, alive to currents that cannot be seen. Against the surrounding violet and cobalt, their diagonal movement suggests a private migration through a world that is becoming less certain and more luminous at once.

Below them, the water receives the sky in broken vertical reflections, making the lower half of the painting feel like a second atmosphere rather than a fixed ground. The scattered points of light above deepen that impression, as though dusk has opened into a larger field of attention. What remains is an image of fragile momentum - a brief crossing held in suspension before night fully claims the horizon.
