about this painting:
The sea sun
Before us is another painting by Leonid Afremov on a maritime theme. In the center of the canvas, the artist depicted a lonely yacht swaying on the waves. In the distance we see a few more ships. Apparently this is also yachts. Surely, their passengers enjoy the calm and evenness of the sea, although the yacht in the foreground seems to be without passengers. Obviously, the coast is not far and the artist depicted a quiet harbor or a bay where the owners leave their luxury yachts without fear that someone will steal them.
The painting is called Yellow Fog. Although we can hardly call what we see in the painting fog. Rather, it is just gauze. It is interesting to observe the palette of colors with which the artist depicted the sun. In the center we see a white disk, just as bright as it appears to us on the sunniest day, it even hurts to look at it, we see yellow colors around it, which then begin to turn dark becoming orange, whereas in the upper left corner we see even turquoise and blue hues.
But still the painting is called Yellow Fog, so let's talk a little about this natural phenomenon. Fog is a very unusual type of precipitation. It consists of a myriad of microscopic water droplets or ice crystals. Simply put, this is a cloud touching the earth. Fog appears when weather conditions favor the condensation of moisture in the air.
This happens due to two main factors:
- Cooling of the lower layers of the atmosphere saturated with moisture. A similar phenomenon is most often observed in the late evening or early morning when the temperature on the ground decreases.
- Evaporation of water from a warm surface into colder air layers. When the air temperature falls below zero, the water remains warmer, evaporates and condenses, creating a light shroud above the water surface.
Enjoy these wonderful colors as the passengers of these yachts swaying on the waves do. It seems to us that even if you are not a lover of the sea, this seascape should make a very strong impression on you.
