about this painting:
A white dream
You can probably remember that feeling when you walk along the pier and see a yacht sailing by – an immediate desire to be onboard. The sight of this proud and free vessel gliding effortlessly over the water surface like a beautiful creature of the sea stirs up your romantic, adventurous side and you want to accompany it on its fascinating journey to the horizon. You feel a little envy of those standing on the deck, their hair fluttering in the wind, faces smiling towards the sunny sky, eyes sparkling in expectation of something wonderful while you have to drag your feet down the hot dusty street in your dull everyday business. At that moment, you are ready to give up your boring job, your thoroughly calculated plans, your tiring obligations to be the one leaning over the shiny railing and getting covered in salty splashes as the yacht breaks a big wave. But in a few minutes the vessels reduces into the distance turning into a barely distinguishable white spot in the blue vastness of the sea. And you follow it with your eyes until it disappears completely and wonder what fantastic shores lie in its way…
The pull of the sea
There are many ways to divide people into categories by different criteria. There are so many of them that it can become a full-fledged hobby. For instance, their attitude towards yachts:
· For some people, yachts are just luxury items, a sort of entertainment. They sail because they have enough money to afford it.
· For some, sailing is a sport. They see it as a way to exercise their body and will, to stay in a good physical and mental shape.
· For others, it is business. They make money by taking tourists on sea trips and renting their yachts to other sailors.
· However, there is a separate category of people for whom sailing is a way of life. They are simply in love with the sea and their vessels and they don’t need anything else except this endless journey, a constant change of place and an unchanging pattern of waves overboard.
