WOUNDED DREAM - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Across a pale, unsettled horizon, Wounded Dream holds the feeling of a vision that has not fully released its wound. Warm fragments hover between sky and water, suspended without settling into any single reading. The work’s drama comes from this tension: the scene suggests a waterfront, yet its atmosphere belongs equally to memory, sleep, and emotional afterimage.

A broad horizontal glow gathers in the distance, where gold enters the darker water as a broken reflection. This light does not resolve the melancholy; it makes it more elusive, as though consolation has appeared briefly but cannot be held. The calm implied by the horizon is continually disturbed by the vivid forms above it.

The clustered vertical shapes at the right edge introduce a sense of distant presence without establishing a definite place. Against them, the large burgundy and crimson mass seems less like an object than a pressure within the dream - something vivid enough to command attention, yet too ambiguous to name. Its uncertainty keeps the scene inward and searching.

Near the lower center, a small red-orange mark remains apart from the larger movement, carrying the quiet force of a remnant or signal. The dark foreground gives the image emotional weight, while the cooler expanse above allows its warmer signs to remain suspended between departure and return.
