WALL OF RISING COLORS - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Color here behaves less like decoration than a force gathering momentum, and Wall of Rising Colors gives that force a vertical pulse that feels both immediate and unresolved. The composition presses upward through uneven bands, as if movement has been caught at the instant before it becomes a single direction. Its intensity is not chaotic; the darker margins give the central surge a sense of pressure and release.

The vivid intervals of orange, red, magenta, yellow, and turquoise create shifting relationships rather than a fixed visual order. A narrow passage of white can feel like an opening, while the deep blues and teal at the edges hold the work in a state of suspension. This tension allows the painting to suggest change without attaching it to a particular event or narrative.

Seen as a whole, the work carries the atmosphere of a threshold - not a place, but a moment when competing energies begin to align. The irregular boundaries keep that alignment from becoming settled, preserving a lively uncertainty within the boldness. It invites attention to return in stages, discovering how one color alters the emotional charge of the next.
