WALKING ON THE WAVES - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

WALKING ON THE WAVES — A charged vertical abstract composition, WALKING ON THE WAVES channels restless energy through a dense field of color and gesture. The image invites the eye into a luminous central passage where pale tones meet deep, saturated movement.

Layered strokes in deep blue, teal, green, turquoise, orange, red, yellow, white, cream, black, and violet fill the tall format. Thick, expressive marks create a richly textured surface, with scraped-looking passages and vertically directed daubs that suggest continuous motion. A broad red-orange form interrupts the upper-middle area, surrounded by darker blue and green bands. Near the lower edge, small horizontal marks create a subtle reflective effect, adding visual rhythm to the otherwise rising flow. Contrasting light passages generate brightness without a defined natural light source, intensifying the dramatic interplay between shadow and color.

Its strong vertical movement suits spaces that benefit from a vivid focal point, while the layered brushwork rewards close viewing. The combination of luminous pale color, heated reds and oranges, and deep aquatic blues gives the composition an energetic, intense presence. It can complement contemporary interiors, creative workspaces, or reading areas where expressive color and tactile visual rhythm bring atmosphere and momentum.
