VINYL GROOVE GALAXY - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

In this nocturnal meditation on listening, Vinyl Groove Galaxy turns a familiar circular form into a private cosmos of repetition, memory, and suspended time. Its central disc seems to hold music in reserve, not as sound but as an atmosphere waiting to be entered. The work’s retro-futurist mood hovers between an intimate ritual and a signal received from somewhere beyond the room.

The closely gathered rings draw attention inward, toward the spindle at the center and the sense of an orbit without departure. Each circle appears to return to the same point, yet the shifting reflections keep that return from feeling identical. The image suggests how memory works through recurrence - revisiting an earlier moment while quietly changing it.

Around the disc, small points of light drift into soft uncertainty, as if the surrounding darkness were carrying fragments of a larger transmission. Cool blue and teal reflections meet warmer copper, amber, and rose notes, creating a tension between distance and warmth. Nothing settles into a single emotional register; the scene remains both inviting and slightly elusive.

What gives the work its charge is this meeting of the mechanical and the dreamlike. The record-like form belongs to a world of touch, listening, and personal archives, while its iridescent circles widen into something almost astronomical. It leaves the viewer with the feeling of having paused beside a song that has already begun, catching only the luminous resonance that remains.
