UNDER THE ARCH OF AUTUMN - oil painting on canvas by Leonid Afremov

UNDER THE ARCH OF AUTUMN — A warm woodland scene draws the eye along a winding path beneath an arch of autumn foliage. The composition balances shadowed tree trunks with a radiant opening beyond, creating a welcoming sense of depth and quiet discovery.

Burnt orange, golden yellow, ochre, rust red, and deep green gather across the leafy canopy, while tall grasses edge the path in the foreground. Dark trunks rise prominently along the left side, contrasting with the softly illuminated distance. Expressive, heavily textured brushwork builds the scene through short, distinct strokes and layered patches of color, giving leaves, grasses, bark, and earth a tactile presence. Bright light filtering through the branches creates a glowing cream-toned center framed by the woodland’s deeper greens and browns.

This tranquil autumn landscape brings warmth and natural character to living rooms, reading corners, entryways, or creative workspaces. Its enclosed canopy and luminous path offer both intimacy and visual movement, encouraging the gaze to travel inward. The rich seasonal palette pairs comfortably with neutral interiors while adding energy to spaces shaped by wood, linen, greenery, or warm metallic accents. A compelling choice for anyone drawn to forest paths, glowing fall color, and atmospheric nature scenes.
