about this painting:
Thrill
Dance flight
The fact that ballet is one of the most beautiful forms of art is used in his art by Leonid Afremov to portray ballerinas in a variety of poses. For this Thrill painting, he chose a pose that is more like a flight. And indeed, the ballerina is more like a bird than a woman. She folded her arms and legs like wings drawing them back. If you think about a bird you can compare our heroine with, the first thing that comes to mind is a white dove. It is a symbol of peace and lightness. Almost the same can be said about ballet. This dance is one of the lightest and most graceful. Dancers really resemble birds. This sensation is enhanced when their tutus are decorated with white feathers. One can only envy the plasticity our ballerina shows, because her body is bent by 180 degrees and with the tips of her fingers she can easily touch her heels, her back is as if made of wax or plasticine – it is so elastic and flexible. And indeed few can boast of such flexibility. This is the result of many years of painstaking work.
Colors of ballet
As always, the artist used a large number of different paints applied to his Thrill painting in the form of brushstrokes to depict its background. If you try to make out the color scheme, right above the ballerina’s head, you can distinguish the brightest spot; closer to the left edge the painting becomes darker. The artist even uses black colors. In the brightest place, we see a large cluster of yellow and red while the lightest spot in the picture is the right central part. In it we find such colors as
- light green
- turquoise
- blue
- white
It seems that from there shines a spotlight highlighting the entire figure of the ballerina. In the upper right corner, the artist used a little purple. He often uses it to depict various objects and elements.
Enjoy the unique colors of Leonid Afremov’s thrill art and you will discover the other side of ballet!
