THE CLOUD CHAIR - FRAMED

Suspended between comfort and nowhere, The Cloud Chair turns a familiar seat into a place of suspension rather than arrival. Its improbable elevation loosens the chair from ordinary use, allowing it to suggest a pause in which the demands of the ground have briefly fallen away. The surrounding sky gives this small, self-contained object an unusual dignity, as though stillness itself had become habitable.

The chair remains modest in scale against the wide field of drifting cloud, and that imbalance keeps the image from becoming purely fanciful. It carries a tender uncertainty: is this a refuge reached through imagination, or a sign of how far comfort can be removed from everyday life? The answer stays open, held in the distance between the object and everything below it.

Soft warmth moving through the clouds tempers the strangeness with a sense of welcome. Nothing appears urgent here; even the chair’s isolation feels sheltered rather than abandoned. The work lingers around the wish to step outside familiar gravity without losing the possibility of rest, making its dreamlike setting feel less like an escape than a suspended interval of attention.
