SYMBIOSIS - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Within a crowded field of intimate encounters, Symbiosis presents movement as something shaped by connection rather than solitude. The small fish appears to travel through a living maze, its bright bands holding a clear direction while the surrounding forms press close around it. The title opens the scene toward mutual dependence, suggesting that presence here is never entirely separate from what encloses it.

The fish’s dark, attentive eye gives the composition a point of alertness, as though it is meeting a world that is both sheltering and demanding. Around it, purple and pink branches gather in dense clusters, their rounded golden tips creating a pulse that feels less decorative than responsive. This closeness makes the scene energetic without turning it into simple celebration; belonging may also require constant adjustment.

The work’s intensity comes from that balance between distinctness and immersion. Orange, white, magenta, and deep red hold their differences firmly, yet their shared brightness binds them into a single atmosphere. The fish remains recognizable, but not untouched by the surrounding abundance. It seems to occupy a moment in which identity is maintained through attention - moving forward while remaining answerable to the life around it.
