STROLL UNDER MOON - oil painting on canvas by Leonid Afremov

STROLL UNDER MOON — A luminous nocturnal promenade unfolds in vivid, expressive color. Two companions move through a glowing city street as warm lamps and distant windows animate the darkness, creating an atmosphere that feels both romantic and full of urban energy.

The tall composition draws the eye from a large suspended lantern in the upper left toward a receding line of round streetlamps. Deep blue, violet, and black shadows intensify the fiery orange, red, golden yellow, and white illumination. Below, wet pavement becomes a field of rippling reflections, carrying the lights across the foreground in broken, painterly bands. Building facades and windows emerge through heavily textured, distinct brushstrokes, while the two dark-clad figures remain a quiet focal point near the lower left, one appearing to lift a pale object overhead.

Well suited to interiors that welcome dramatic color, evening ambience, and a sense of movement, this urban scene can energize a hallway, living space, study, or hospitality setting. Its strong vertical rhythm works naturally on a narrow wall, while the contrast between radiant streetscape and deep shadow adds depth to contemporary, eclectic, or atmospheric rooms. The expressive surface and heightened palette invite lingering attention, recalling the sparkle of a city walk after rain.
