about this painting:
Mystery night of street illusions
Nonstandard approach to decorating
While planning renovations you have to create a whole concept of your new design. You can hardly imagine your apartment without wall decorations, can’t you? There are hundreds of various ideas, which you can implement on your own, or use professional help. You may think of something very common, like your photographs in fancy frames, or something really outstanding, like a painting by a fashionable artist. If you stop your choice at the second variant, you may be bewildered by the amount of masterpieces in local and online galleries, so you should think beforehand about the overall palette and theme. But there is one big category, which is not so typical, but very interesting. An incredible set of several canvases will become an ideal decoration for your apartment, and you may arrange them the way you like. This illusion painting by Leonid Afremov will take you to a wonderful street somewhere in Europe, and you may stroll along it and explore every corner, admiring the simplicity and preciosity.
The cityscape of your dream
This set consists of three paintings, depicting an evening city, and each of these canvases should be examined separately.
1. In this painting you may observe a silhouette of a brown building on the left, and an old-fashioned lamp on it. You may notice several lit windows on the first floor, reflected in the puddles on the sidewalk. There are silhouettes of a couple of strangers, but you can’t see them clearly because of the pouring rain.
2. The middle part of the composition depicts a wide avenue, but there is no road surface marking, as in big cities with intense traffic. Small three-storey orange, red and brown houses on the background give us a hint about an old city in Europe that retained its original views. There are three passers-by with umbrellas, showing us the rain is still falling, bringing the chill atmosphere in the air.
3. Unlike two other canvases from this illusion set, this part is marked by a cold palette. The road lost its light reflections, and is painted with dark hues. Here you may observe the only tall tree in this street, spreading its wide branches with green leaves and becoming the major image of the composition.
Rain is everywhere: on people’s umbrellas, on the road, in the air. The sky is dark, panted with sharp strokes of a palette knife, unlike other soft and delicate lines. This mysterious set will become a nice decoration for your living-room, presenting all colors and shades in one piece of wall décor.
