Suspended between poise and release, Strange Gesture turns the jellyfish into a study of motion that feels both deliberate and ungovernable. Its domed form leans toward the right while the trailing strands gather and separate, suggesting a presence caught in the act of becoming. The work’s deep blues and shifting violet, pink, and gold accents give that movement an otherworldly charge without fixing it to a single emotion.
The jellyfish seems less like an inhabitant of a defined sea than a fleeting intelligence passing through an open field. Its tentacles cross the space in long, sweeping lines, carrying the eye outward and then back toward the concentrated body. There is drama in this imbalance, but also a strange grace: a gesture can be both signal and surrender, expressive without revealing exactly what it means.
