This painting looks tridimensional and has a lot of heavy textures
STILL MEASURED depicts a tabletop game scene mid-play, scattered pieces and cards frozen in tension. Thick palette knife strokes give the surface a physical, sculpted presence.
Paint is layered and partially scraped back, allowing underlying tones to emerge and interact with light.
The scene feels intimate and tactile, encouraging slow, reflective viewing.

At the center of a suspended decision, Still Measured gathers the charged quiet that follows a move but precedes its consequence. The crowded round table feels less like a setting than a temporary world, governed by rules that remain just beyond view. Scattered cards and pieces hold several possibilities at once, while the surrounding darkness gives the scene an inward, almost secretive concentration.
The arrangement resists a single reading of victory or defeat. Instead, it preserves the instability of play - the moment when attention passes from what has happened to what could happen next. A tall dark bottle near the table’s edge introduces a human measure, suggesting companionship, endurance, or simply the time required for a decision to settle. The open vessel above it deepens that sense of pause without resolving the scene.
Light gathers selectively across the circular surface, bringing certain fragments forward while leaving others to implication. This uneven emphasis makes the table feel remembered rather than merely observed, as though the objects retain traces of gestures and arguments that are no longer present. What remains is a study of deliberation: not stillness as absence, but stillness crowded with consequences.
