STILL FLOW - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

At the heart of this tightly held abstraction, Still Flow turns movement into a charged encounter between enclosure and release. The central almond-shaped form seems to gather the surrounding geometry inward, while its smaller inner circle gives that motion a point of focus. Rather than presenting a place or event, the work creates a visual condition in which direction, pressure, and balance remain in constant negotiation.

The sweeping structure across the center carries the composition from left to right, yet it does not settle into a single path. Diagonal bands interrupt its passage, suggesting forces that cross, redirect, and briefly align. Deep navy and teal give the surrounding forms a sense of gravity, while the concentrated reds and oranges keep the center vivid and alert.

That tension extends toward the edges, where smaller circular forms feel less like repeated symbols than distant pulses within the larger rhythm. The close cropping intensifies the impression that the composition continues beyond what can be held at once, making its energy feel immediate rather than fully resolved. It invites attention to how order can remain active without becoming still.

The work’s bold geometry carries a modernist clarity, but its emotional register is less orderly than its contours first suggest. Burgundy, violet, pale blue, and cream temper the stronger contrasts, allowing moments of pause amid the insistence of the curves and angles. What emerges is not a fixed emblem, but a sustained passage between containment and expansion - a flow that keeps changing as the eye follows it.
