Between order and interruption, Soft Surface turns pattern into a restless form of attention. Its horizontal units gather into an almost architectural rhythm, yet their irregular edges resist complete stability. The work feels less like a fixed arrangement than a field of recurring decisions, where balance is continually approached and displaced. Bright passages press forward while darker intervals hold the composition in check, giving the image an energetic tension without directing the eye toward any single conclusion.
The dense arrangement invites a slower reading of repetition. Each band seems related to those around it, but never fully absorbed into a larger system; small gaps preserve a sense of independence and hesitation. The pale marks crossing the center act as moments of release, interrupting the saturated intensity without resolving it. What emerges is an abstract language of accumulation and pause, suggesting that order may be felt most vividly at the point where it begins to loosen.
