SOFT MEADOW

Between alertness and shelter, Soft Meadow finds a tender balance between watchfulness and ease. Three hares share the same stretch of living ground without seeming to belong to a single story; their presence feels briefly gathered, as though the meadow has allowed a small community to become visible. The work’s gentleness is not passive. It carries the alert vitality of creatures ready to move, yet untroubled by any immediate threat.

The central hare gives the scene its quiet measure, while the smaller figures keep that composure from becoming solemn. Their upright ears reach into the pale openness above, turning attention outward and making the surrounding air feel expansive. There is a playful uncertainty in this arrangement: are they pausing together, or simply crossing the same moment from different directions?

Tall grass rises around the animals rather than merely framing them, suggesting a world that continues at its own pace. The hares remain recognizable, but their forms seem softened by the meadow’s abundance, held within a rhythm of growth that is more generous than possessive. This gives the scene an appealing tension between individuality and belonging.
