SOFT LAYERS - FRAMED

Across receding ridges, Soft Layers finds a way to make distance feel inward and contemplative. The landscape does not offer a single fixed horizon; it gathers itself through successive passages of dark teal, muted earth, and pale blue-green, as though the land were remembering its own contours. A broad field of white above the forms leaves the scene open, yet not empty, giving the clustered valleys a sense of suspended stillness.

The darker foreground carries weight, but it does not close the view. Beyond it, lighter bands loosen and drift toward the center, creating a measured movement between nearness and remoteness. That gradual recession suggests a place perceived over time rather than surveyed at a glance - a landscape whose meaning emerges through attention, with each ridge holding back just enough to keep the whole from settling into certainty.

There is an earthy calm here, tempered by the irregularity of the contours and the small, deliberate mark near the lower-right edge. Together they resist perfect symmetry and keep the scene human in its restraint. The work can be felt as an inward passage through changing distances, where quiet is not an absence but a condition for seeing what lies beyond the first impression.
