SHARED STEPS depicts a couple standing close near a reflective lake shore, bodies touching in autumn with fiery leaves covering the ground with colorful trees mirrored in the lake surface, rendered with bold palette knife strokes and saturated color.
Thick layers of paint create glowing reflections on water and ground, emphasizing texture and movement.
The silhouettes remain faceless, focusing attention on mood, season, and shared presence.

At the edge of a changing season, Shared Steps considers companionship as a form of orientation - two figures pause where the path meets the water, close enough to suggest that neither is moving through this vivid world alone. Their faceless presence keeps the feeling open, less a portrait of particular people than a quiet recognition of mutual direction. The surrounding autumn brightness gives their stillness a sense of arrival without fixing what comes next.
The central evergreen holds the scene together amid fiery foliage, offering a darker, steadier note within the surrounding radiance. Beyond it, the path narrows into the trees, carrying the eye toward a place that remains deliberately unresolved. This balance between shelter and departure lends the work its romantic calm: the figures are not isolated from the season, but gathered into its turning.
Below the far bank, the reflected trees and light loosen into ripples, as though the landscape were being reconsidered rather than simply repeated. That doubled world deepens the painting’s meditation on presence - what is shared can feel certain in the moment, yet altered by memory, movement, and time. The pair remains small within the breadth of the park, but their closeness gives the surrounding silence its human measure.
