SEATTLE'S SKYLINE IN AN ALIEN MIST - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Beneath an atmosphere of suspended time, Seattle's Skyline in an Alien Mist turns a familiar city into a threshold between recognition and estrangement. The observation tower rises toward a luminous circular presence, not as a landmark held securely in place, but as a slender mediator between the inhabited world and whatever lies beyond it. Its silhouette gives the skyline a point of orientation while leaving its meaning open.

The surrounding buildings gather in close formation, their scattered windows suggesting lives continuing within a city that has briefly become unknowable. Warm points of light resist the violet and indigo haze without dispelling it, creating a tension between human persistence and a vast, impersonal radiance.

The tower's saucer-like crown is especially potent in this suspended setting. It can be read as an emblem of arrival, departure, or simply altered perception - a familiar structure made strange by the glow behind it. The tall building at the right provides a counterweight, anchoring the vision in urban geometry even as the atmosphere loosens its certainty.

What lingers is not a story of invasion or escape, but the sensation of looking at home from slightly beyond its borders. The dense lower forms and illuminated windows keep the scene inhabited, while the haze withholds any final explanation. The city remains present, yet seems to be listening for a signal from the dark beyond the frame.
