I would like to present my hand painted oil on canvas painting (recreation) of the artwork SEASON OF SUNFLOWERS. I made this piece with the same amount of soul and emotion just like the first original painting. This piece is created with oil paint on artistic canvas using my unique technique of a palette knife. The artwork has texture, you can feel the strokes by touching the painting. By purchasing on this site, you are buying directly from the artist Leonid Afremov. I guarantee your satisfaction and the best customer experience.

The certificate of authenticity will include the name of the owner who purchased the piece of artwork. The certificate is signed by Leonid Afremov. If you buying this painting as a gift, please provide us the name of the gift recipient for the certificate. We can also ship to the address of the recipient of your gift.

about this painting:

The flower that follows the sun

Symbolism of a sunflower

How much do you know about sunflowers? On the one hand, they look very simple; however, on the other hand, they are absolutely beautiful flowers that remind you of the sun (no wonder they are called sunflowers). Did you know that for some people, a sunflower is not just a flower, but also a symbol?

  1. In China it is a symbol of longevity and has a magic power.
  2. In Japan it is the symbol of the last summer month- August.
  3. In Europe it symbolizes gratitude.
  4. For Christians it’s a symbol of a pious believer who trusts God in everything.

A beautiful legend

There is a beautiful legend according to which gods cast a spell on people for having been forgotten. They covered the sky with clouds, so that nobody could see the sun.  People started to get sick. They couldn’t harvest anything and began to die. Then, they remembered about their gods and prayed for their grace. Suddenly, one day they finally saw the sun and a god’s hand reaching out through the clouds. Their gods gave people seeds that soon grew into beautiful sunflowers. They wanted to let people know that they should never lose their faith and never lose the sun again. Sunflowers always follow the sun- even in the darkest rainy or foggy day their yellow “heads” will always face it. No wonder the sunflower is also a symbol of happiness and optimism, loyalty and dignity. Due to their never-give-up attitude, they have become a part of many famous masters of world art, and have been called “the flowers of the sun”.

Bring some magic to your interior with such amazingly painted sunflowers. Brighten your everyday life by just simply purchasing this fantastic canvas so masterfully painted by Leonid Afremov in his unique palette knife technique! This painting will look best in the kitchen or a dining room. However, make sure it doesn’t get water or fire damaged as oil canvases are very sensitive to steam and are highly flammable. You can order it to be rolled in a tube or gallery wrapped and ready to hang as soon as you receive it. To get an idea of how it will look in a room, there is a “View in room” tab by clicking on which you’ll see the painting in different common interiors.

I just received my painting in South Africa and it's already been paraded around. I am so happy I decided to purchase it, and with the free painting special I received with my next purchase, I will be sure to add some more of Leonid's paintings to my name

We love ours! It is a little different than the picture of course, but the colors really pop in person! Thanks Leonid.

I'm a retired jazz trombonist. The essence of jazz is improvisation. Improvisation is the ability to look at a thing from a different perspective each time you look at it. That is what the pallet knife wielding Mr. Leonid Afremov does with his recreations. I have the pleasure of waking each morning and looking up the rain swept street of "The Loneliness of Autumn" and wondering where my road may take each day. I wasn't prepared for the blaze of color or the depth of feeling when I tore the boxing open at delivery even though I had looked at the painting on the internet dozens of times before purchasing. It was like seeing and hearing Louis Armstrong in person for the first time after just listening to him on recordings. Some times it even awakens the urge to pick up my horn and blow a few choruses straight at the painting expecting it to blow a chorus or two back at me. The man is a magician.
