about this painting:
SCENERY THAT TELLS STORIES
From time immemorial, people starting to settle near the water. Not only were they attracted to salty sea wind or calm and relaxing sceneries of full-flowing rivers but it also was a simple matter of survival. Drinking water meant life and the sea was their one and only supplier of food. Fish, weed, crabs, shrimps, oysters and mussels were easy to find and safe to get. Later, people started to build ships and go explore some distant lands, met other peoples and learned from them new technologies and traditions.
However, the sea was not always kind and obedient to people. Sometimes it would suddenly become furious and its enormous waves would kill all those people who tried to approach it and would ruin houses near the water condemning their inhabitants to poverty and misery. The sea demanded respect.
Some of those adventurous people who went to the open sea were never to come back because they were buried on the bottom during a storm. That is why the sea has always been seen as an admired yet dangerous element that you better stay away from.
PICTURESQUE HOUSES NEAR THE WATER
In some cities, you can still find cute little houses built amazingly closely to the water. There are a lot of places like that in Italy, which is only a small piece of land surrounded by 5 seas. So, no wonder that fishing in this area has always been a thing.
Since Leonid Afremov loves to travel and discover new inspiring locations, he could not resist the temptation to come to Italy. What is so special about Italy?
- Its rich culture and divine art
- Stunning locations that forever imprint in your soul
- Beautiful smiley people
All that inspired Afremov to create many sea paintings, portraits of street musicians and still lives in his famous technique using a palette knife and oil paint.
On this canvas, you can see a neat row of houses that are reflected in the water of a harbor. Anyway, there is a certain charm to them thanks to old-fashiones shutters and brightly colored walls. These buildings are pretty simple and have only a couple of stores. There are a couple of boats too.
No one can deny that this piece of art is extremely cheerful and instantly brightens up your mood. Bright colors and a relatively simple composition in this case is a key to success. You can easily hang this painting in your neutral living room or bedroom to add to it some more colors. It will go well with blue, light yellow, sandy, orange and white designs.
