about this painting:
On the hills of Scotland
By the small 16’’ x 40’’ copy of his canvas of the same name –Scottish Cat – Leonid Afremov invites you to once again enjoy the Scottish atmosphere. Do not doubt that you will receive the same feelings and emotions from this canvas as from its enlarged copy.
Before our eyes once again appears a cat as a bagpiper in the national Scottish costume — we see the same kilt, the same black hat of sheep wool, and of course the bagpipes. And again we hear the amazing sounds of this distinctive musical instrument through the canvas and mentally take ourselves to Scotland, to the homeland of the Celts and the green meadows with lush grass stand before our eyes, medieval scenes of the war between the Scots and the British... And of course we clearly represent the image of the Scottish warrior – a piper. We see how he proudly parades in front of the palace in a victorious march and it seems that nothing can embarrass him. He is faithful to his monarch to the last. However, the feline image here, like in any other Leonid Afremov's painting, gives this canvas a kind of frivolity, even childishness. Looking at this painting you will have only positive emotions, each time recalling such a wonderful country as Scotland.
And again, the bagpipe occupies a central place in the canvas and therefore again we are ready to tell you some interesting facts about bagpipe:
- Among the Celtic musical instruments, the bagpipe have long been in the shadow of the harp. The harp sounds were considered sublime while bagpipes melodies were treated as something earthly, everyday and simple. But it was the bagpipe that eventually became the real voice of Scotland.
- The final formation of the construction of the Scottish bagpipes refers to the XVI century.
- Scottish bagpipes are the loudest. Their sound must be heard well at a distance of at least three miles. In open space, this distance is twice longer.
Immerse yourself once again in the Scottish atmosphere with a miniature canvas of Leonid Afremov!
