SCENT OF RAIN - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

SCENT OF RAIN — A luminous rain-soaked city scene captures the electric atmosphere that follows a shower. Warm storefronts and street lamps shimmer across standing water, turning an everyday urban passage into a vivid study of light, color, and movement.

The wide composition draws the eye along a central street receding into the distance. Amber, orange, red, and yellow lights glow through the middle and upper left, balanced by turquoise, blue, violet, and green reflections below. Dark trunks and branching forms gather along the right side, creating a strong natural frame for the illuminated architecture. Small figures and rounded silhouettes animate the midground, while broken horizontal bands of reflected color spread across the foreground. Highly textured, impressionistic brushwork gives the scene a lively, tactile surface, with short block-like strokes fragmenting lamps, façades, and reflections into expressive marks.

Its horizontal format suits a living room, hallway, dining area, or creative workspace where a sense of depth and urban energy can unfold across the wall. The contrast between glowing city lights and cool wet shadows brings visual drama without relying on a single dominant hue. Ideal for interiors inspired by travel, contemporary city life, atmospheric weather, or colorful impressionistic landscapes, it adds a vibrant after-dark mood and a reflective focal point.
