about this painting:

Robert de Niro

Fabulous Hollywood

Robert De Niro is perhaps one of Hollywood's most recognizable actors. He is best remembered for his role in Godfather: Part II. But in Robert De Niro II, one of the paintings included in the people and figures series, Leonid decided to depict him in a completely different image. He gave vent to his imagination and portrayed the famous actor in the image of Aladdin. Naked torso of the character covered with a vest only for certain will cause sympathy among the fairer sex. In his outstretched hand he holds a pistol that in a certain degree contrasts with the image of Aladdin – clearly, in times of Aladdin, the pistols were not yet invented. The character’s glance is very focused - he seems to be frozen and do not know what to do next - he must have been chasing his victim for quite long time, but now when he's finally caught him up, he clearly does not want to kill him – after all Aladdin is a positive character! In the inner pocket of his waistcoat, we see another pistol. He is ready to snatch it out at any second, but something prevents him from doing so. The painting is designed to give free rein to our imagination and we hope that it will only give you positive emotions.

But in spite of the criminal image of the character the painting in general looks rather holistic and looks especially harmoniously on a background painted in multicolored strokes. They range from dark purple to light turquoise. These colors add to the painting an extra fabulousness.

The most famous Vito Corleone

Here we will tell you some interesting things about the origin and formative years of one of the greatest actors of the XX century:

  1. Robert De Niro was born in Greenwich Village in the family of Virginia Admiral, paintress and poetess, and Robert De Niro senior, a famous abstract expressionist. Shortly after the birth of his son, De Niro Sr. admitted to his wife that he was a homosexual. But after the divorce he actively participated in Bobby’s life.
  2. Despite the fact that De Niro is an icon and a symbol of Italian-American cinema, he is Italian only on a quarter (among his ancestors were Irish, English, French, German and Dutch). However, he grew up in Little Italy, a district in New York, where the boy was nicknamed Bobby Milk for his thin figure and pale complexion.
  3. Bobby felt the passion for actor craft at the age of ten, when he played the Cowardly Lion in an amateur production of The Wizard of Oz. The success came in six years: once leaving the cinema, De Niro decided to leave high school and start actor career.
