Against a charged horizon, Rising Space turns the figure of the grim reaper toward a stranger, more vital register. The great bird seems to carry mortality not as a hooded absence, but as an alert force poised between departure and ascent. Its long beak and lifted neck give the profile an almost ceremonial gravity, while the sweeping tail releases that severity into movement. The work holds danger and splendor in the same presence, refusing to let either one settle into a single meaning.
The dark body gathers the eye before the surrounding grasses and open sky widen the scene around it. Blue at the head and red across the breast suggest a creature animated by opposing currents, neither wholly ominous nor easily reassuring. Beneath its stillness is the sense of a threshold: a moment when what rises may be leaving, arriving, or changing its nature. The vivid field makes that uncertainty feel immediate rather than remote.
