RISING FORM - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Suspended between momentum and control, Rising Form turns a skateboarder’s brief lift into a study of self-command. The airborne figure does not appear detached from motion; the extended leg and open arms hold the body at the precise threshold where balance becomes a decision. Against the concentrated yellow-orange field, the dark central form gathers an almost electric sense of consequence.

The upward diagonal gives that instant a direction without settling its destination. The board rises toward the left while the body reaches beyond it, suggesting that movement here is less about arrival than about committing fully to an unstable possibility. Surrounding blocks of blue, red, purple, and gray make the space feel charged rather than defined.

There is also a tension between individuality and the surrounding urban energy. The figure’s sharply divided colors keep it distinct, yet the fragmented field presses close, as though the world itself were breaking into forces the rider must read in real time. This makes the leap feel both public and inward - a visible act shaped by private concentration.

At its heart, the work holds stillness inside velocity. The suspended body becomes a measure of trust: in timing, in instinct, and in the moment before gravity resumes its claim. What remains compelling is not a promised escape from limits, but the clarity found while moving through them.
