Against the turning water, Rising Figure becomes a meditation on emergence - a body gathering force as it moves beyond the pull of the surrounding current. The fish’s diagonal rise gives the work a distinct sense of becoming, while its luminous markings hold attention between motion and poise. It seems neither fully borne along nor entirely in command, and that tension lends the image its vivid charge.
