REUNION IN THE OLD CITY

REUNION IN THE OLD CITY — A lively encounter unfolds against the layered character of an old city. Three bearded men in caps and work clothes gather closely in the foreground, their gestures and shared presence conveying warmth, familiarity, and an easy sense of reunion.

Loose, expressive brushwork gives the figures a strong, tactile presence, while the distant city dissolves into a soft, luminous haze. The central figure holds a vertical object before him, flanked by companions whose animated hands add rhythm to the composition. Pale blue, cream, white, muted green, ochre, rust red, brown, and black create a gently weathered palette. Behind them, clustered houses, pitched roofs, pale façades, trees, and larger architectural forms recede in atmospheric layers. Darker, more defined strokes in the foreground contrast with the softened rooftops and skyline, guiding attention from the human gathering toward the historic setting beyond.

Its companionable subject and nostalgic atmosphere suit spaces designed for conversation and reflection, including living rooms, studies, libraries, cafés, and hospitality interiors. The balanced arrangement of three figures creates a natural focal point, while the hazy architecture adds depth without overwhelming surrounding furnishings. An appealing choice for collectors drawn to figurative scenes, old-city character, expressive surfaces, and the quiet energy of people meeting again.
