about this painting:

The power of love

Back when we were kids, our favorite fairy tales taught us that a kiss of true love has a tremendous power that can overcome even death.  It is more than just a sign of affection. Two souls touching each other, two worlds unfolding on the tip of the lips, two breaths that become one… At that instant, the planet stops spinning and everything on it seems to exist just for you and your beloved one. Prolong this magical moment by hanging the kiss painting by Leonid Afremov on your wall!

Why do we kiss?

Have you ever thought why we actually kiss each other on the lips to express our tender feelings? Scientists have several explanations for that:

1.   According to one theory, our ape ancestors used kissing to exchange genetic information and determine whether the partner is healthy enough for mating.

2.   When meeting a new person, primeval people used to smell each other and kissing is believed to be part of this ritual. Some also believe that it helped them to replenish the level of salt in the organism.

3.   Another hypothesis suggests that thousands of years ago mothers used to feed their children from their own mouth, just like birds. Later, this habit gained a wider context.

Regardless of how it really was, kissing is pleasant and romantic, and this picture reminds us of that once again!

A moment to last forever

The scenery is rainy and gloomy, but the two in the painting don’t notice it. Surrounded by ice-cold puddles, quirky silhouettes of bare trees and autumn greyness, they never saw the world so bright and delightful. Under the protection of their umbrellas, they move closer and closer, being pulled by an irresistible force. Their hands slowly find each other, their faces nearly touch… The melody of rain drops beating against the fallen leaves sounds in their ears like a perfect accompaniment to this moment. They can stand like that forever, trapped in sweet suspense, savoring a kiss that is about to happen. Can you remember these indescribable emotions? The kiss painting meaning is obvious, it doesn’t need any explanation or intellectual analysis. It is a statement of love, a feeling we long for so desperately and keep searching our entire life. Bring a little bit more love to your home by decorating it with this wonderful canvas by Leonid Afremov!

Last week I received my painting Rain's Rustle and it is already proudly hanging in my living room. Even though it is a bit darker that the original, I still love the beautiful and vibrant colours. Thank you for your art!

This painting has been in my house for about a year. When I look at it, it takes me to a special place inside my heart. If you could paint "falling in love" it would be this picture. I can stare at it and feel the chill in the air, smell the rain, see the light in the trees, and feel the love blossoming between these two people.
