RAIN OF BALLOONS - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Against a weather-darkened world, Rain of Balloons gathers its brightness into a suspended, unruly chorus. The clustered forms seem less like an escape from the storm than a brief insistence that delight can remain airborne within it. Their buoyant presence gives the scene a sense of movement that is playful without becoming carefree.

The rain pulls everything diagonally toward the ground, yet the central gathering resists that downward force. Yellow, coral, violet, and turquoise forms overlap like passing thoughts or voices meeting in midair, while the scattered shapes at the edges keep the composition from settling into a single, closed moment.

Below, pale reflections loosen the boundary between what is above and what is below. The wet ground does not simply mirror the suspended forms; it carries their color into a more uncertain register, as though the storm has absorbed some of their radiance and returned it altered. This exchange lends the scene a tender tension beneath its exuberance.

The smaller forms drifting apart suggest that togetherness here is temporary, perhaps renewed each time the weather shifts. Nothing appears entirely fixed: the rain travels, the reflections break, and the bright cluster holds only for an instant before dispersing. What remains is an impression of resilience expressed through levity - a joy made more vivid because it has not ignored the storm.
