about this painting:
Leonid Afremov is a 63-years old artist from Belarus. He mostly creates postimpressionistic works of nature or other things that he finds touching and inspiring. Currently he resides in Mexico where he produces his art and also teaches aspiring artists how to paint truly exceptional pieces.
His story as an artist started when he was yet a teenager passionately dreaming about becoming a professional artist.
His talent and perseverance brought him to Vitebsk Education Institute.
His family’s faith made him famous. It is a lot thanks to his children that started selling Afremov’s art during their hard years in Israel after they escaped from the USSR.
Now Afremov is a world-renowned artist with a great reputation who has his own online gallery. If you are interested to know about the artist’s life, check out the bio page.
Where the sky meets the sea
Afremov has a couple of principles that he tries to respect in his art:
- No politics. His works are free of any ideology, so it is impossible for them to offend anyone. Being Jewish, he had to suffer a lot because of his nationality and religion. And he actively promotes the idea of equality and that the world if for everyone in his art.
- Leonid Afremov is not one of those artists who seek to shock the viewer and get going with the hype. He has his own style and never betrays it. For this painter, the canvas should be, first of all, beautiful and harmonious.
- Inspire not harm. This rule is connected in a way with the previous one. The artist believes that after looking at his work, a person should feel better than before – more loving, creative and inspired.
All his principles are realized on this sunset oil paint artwork. When you look at it in real life it seems incredibly realistic, as if you were looking out of the window. Can you imagine having such a fantastic view from your bedroom or living room?
The combination of colors is rather bright and expressive, however, no aggressivity can be noticed. On the other hand, this kind of energy is something clear and purifying. These are the colors of a passionate night of love or a productive day of a true professional who finally finished his best project.
The sun sets and the day is over. Everybody is left to contemplate what they have done during the day. A beautiful pause before a new day.
